Double Crossed at Crossing

…despite double, triple checking multiple weather apps.  First, we hit a mega squall 5 miles out – 30mph winds, pelting rain, 50 feet visibility, thunder and lightning, dogs sleeping with cats!  Powered through that, then clear skies and smooth waters….until 10 pm.  4-5 foot swells slamming B2 bow on. B2 did great!  We did not. 45 min shifts, barf, lay down, repeat for 9 hours.  Rolled in 22 hours and 171 miles later.  Recovering from PTSD, we took showers and a nap.  Like labor, pain forgotten as we are smitten with this tank of a boat.

  1. Wow…the crossing seems to have been as rigorous as you anticipated…glad to hear that B2 has taken such good care of you both.. I hope that Florida is good to you and the weather and seas are calm…

  2. Storms can be scary at sea. My son and I were on a dive boat that was caught in an unforecast storm on Lake Erie. As the shallowest of the Great Lakes it can build fearsome seas very quickly. The captain bolted to the nearest port, which was in Canada. Nobody could set foot on shore because there was no port of entry there. The dives were great, though!
