“We can tell you where we’re going.  And we can tell you when we’ll get there.  However, we can’t tell you where and when at the same time.”

We’re (somewhere) along the Great Loop in eastern US and parts of Canada.  The 6,000-mile (and more with side trips) includes the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, the New York State Canals, the Canadian Canals, the Great Lakes, the inland rivers, and the Gulf of Mexico.   Convention is go counterclockwise, follow the good weather, avoid winter ice and hurricane season. “Loopers” generally troll around the Great Lakes and Canadian waterways in summer, travel down the Mississippi or the Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway in fall, cross the Gulf of Mexico and Florida in the winter, and travel up the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in the spring.
